Another blogger *sigh*

As Jess said, super users can help to some extent, and I’ve already merged a few locations and edited names, numbers, etc, but I still can’t fix your Fitness First example.

What would be great is if there was better integration with Google Maps, where, if you click a marker, there’ll be a “Add to Foursquare” option or something.

Glad to see you’re converted I reckon you’ll see some improvements to the way listing updates are handled – right now it is a simple reporting feature but that should evolve over time. I like where your thinking is going.

Foursquare has followed some of tips within Jeff Howe’s Crowdsourcing by initally building a framework for users with included locations before letting everyone go wild.

A major issue with any crowdsourced application is the maintenance of the data. To really maintain it, you need to have post-monitoring rather than pre-monitoring. If you prevent people from seeing their work straight away on the site, it may frustrate users. Through the development of foursquare’s super users (pretty much users who spend way too much time on the site), foursquare can get these users to find the duplicate, fake and stupid entries and delete them.

However, you have raised some very good points regarding the future of foursquare.
